Yeah, thats an idea too. I'd have to run extension cords or electrical wire down to the coops for the motion light. They aren't very close to my house.

That's why I think God gave the world chickens because everything on the planet wants to eat them, lol
They're big juicy flightless birds that lay eggs on the ground, how did they ever survive or evolve without human protection.

Chickens will "play possum" when attacked. I have seen this with my own. My dog did get a few and they just layed over on thier backs and stayed still. The worst possible position to take. I would run over to the bird and dog thinking the bird dead. After I picked up what appeared to be a dead bird it would suddenly come back to life with no injuries.

Chickens are night blind and so cannot see anything in the dark. That is why they go to roost before total nighfall - because they could not find thier roost otherwise. If you went into the coop at night and grabbed one, they do not fight or run. It's just he way they are.

I wouldn't put a light out there to shine all night ona permanent basis because it would disturb their internal clock, but I would put one out there temporarily just so you can get this blasted thing on your game cam and see it's egress so you can put a stop to this madness.

I am sorry for your loss and those pictures will live in my memory forever. I'm exeptionally sensitive that way - can't even watch scary movies and sometime the newscast gives me nightmares. Hopefully your child did not have to see the horrors. Please tell us when you do figure out exactly what this is. My vote? 'POSSUM!

Can you put a board up to cover the windows that hangs from the top and latches on all sides? This can be removed during the daytime and put back every evening. Yousaid your stapler was not working...how about a saw , drill, and hammer?

I got to thinking about the infection vs. predator thing- did you find any of the missing parts (sorry, gross). I mean, like any evidence trail anywhere?? Inside or outside the coop? How were the girls acting- spooked or afraid? or sick? Is there any place a they could have got their faces caught in, like a sharp nook or some sort? Just brainstomring...
