A GIANT chick hatched out of his shell. He is completely dry with membrane stuck to him in several places. There is a little bit of yellow (yolk?) coming from his rump area. He keeps trying to walk around, but is not really successful though he is getting a little better. He is definitely not a cute little fluffy butt! He doesn't look like anything I have every seen! He is strangely endearing in an alien sort of way. I don't know what if anything to do for him.

Any thoughts?

see? poor little thing is just unattractive! I really like him!

Poor thing is an orphan. One other egg pipped, but the chick died in the shell. I don't know why??? Anyway, this poor darling has a bulbous rump. Is that normal?? How long do I keep him in the bator? I feel so sorry for him. He is all alone and very strange.

that bulbous rump is where the yolk absorbed into-not his butt-but looks like that-if you still have him in bator and hes we try and taken blunt tweezers to pull off the dried membrane-then leave him in there to dry of-he will be a little crusty for a while bt wil eventually fluff out-I leave mine in until they have been in there for 8-10 hours..Thats just me though>

He is really dry. Should I take him out and put him in the brooder? He has been in the incubator all day. Will he be getting thirsty? I got a lot of the membrane off, but he came out with it dried to him. '

This is the first egg that has every hatched. Obviously we did everything wrong as only one hatched and the other died in the shell. I am thinking it was a humidity issue? I just don't know enough.
