1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) 1 year old Easter Egger- smallest of the flock.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Yesterday when I went to lock the girls in the coop, she was struggling to lay an egg in the nesting box. She was squawking a bit but eventually got out and ate and drank like normal. I brought her in the house last night just to be on the safe side. I put her back out with the flock today and she has been eating and drinking walking about the yard, etc. Still no egg. The are above her vent feels "swollen" though I cannot feel an egg shaped mass. She does not like me feeling the area.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? 24 Hours
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. N/A
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Yes
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. Normal
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? BOSS, normal diet-- warm water soak and ky
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Whatever needs to be done. I love her!
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use Pine shavings.
Please help!
