Please help! Sick silkie and seems to be progressing quick! What should I do?

Well Ive been searching and Ive seen anything between 1 dose, every 48 hours and Ive read 3 times per day. It has been 30 hours since I injected her and I am just going to do it again, which may be ok and it could be wrong. But, she is not doing so hot still and Im just going to take a chance.

Aghhhh, so stressed.

Just saw your thread and I didn't read all of the advice but I am a veterinarian and I do not give any antibiotic without giving a probiotic. I am concerned with a serious disease process but giving antibiotics arbitrarily sometimes makes things worse. Start giving her yogurt, any kind or flavor, twice a day at least. You need to repopulate the crop otherwise she will keep regurgitating and not digest a thing. Also, syringe feed her meat flavored baby foods and you can mix some of the vegetable baby foods in, too. Careful to place the syringe to the side of the mouth unless you are using a gavage tube to avoid aspiration. ( I think I saw a post where you were worried about aspiration). Pedialyte is a great inexpensive fluid replacement and can do wonders for energy levels.

Without actually seeing her, I couldn't suggest anything else really except to get her to a vet that works on birds. I have several flocks I take care of and it could be several different issues. I hope she makes it!

If the 50 and 200 are chemically the same, there is no reason to give them differently. Different doses, yes, because one is 1/4 the strength of the other, just like a 200mg ibuprofen vs a 600mg Motrin.

If someone could show me a properly published source on dosing Tylan 200 every 48 hours, I'll shut up, lol. :D

Haha, well I will go with your source. I did give her another dose and she did much better this time. Did it under the skin on her back again. Too scared to try breast again. I guess I will do morning, afternoon, and night from here on out. Fingers crossed its not too much!

Ive heard a lot of gassy/bubbling noises from her crop after feeding her the egg mixture the past couple days. When I dumped the rest down the sink, I heard it bubble then too. Maybe thats why it is making her sick and she is throwing up?

I dunked her beak in some greek yogurt a couple times, just enough for her to get a couple tastes in. Hopefully thats better than nothing. Im gonna go get some baby food tomorrow morning, good idea!

Its crazy when I lay her down in this fluffy, fleece blanket. She sinks right into it, sprawls out, and completely relaxes while I pet her. No crazy twitching or vertigo issues and also very little gasping. Maybe I should do this as much as I can.... Its a complete 180.

Alright. I am debating if it is worth sticking her a few times a day for less than an 1/8CC of tylan or if I should spare her the trauma (her opinion, not mine) and just do it once a day of 1/4CC.

This is a long shot but it just occurred to me. My aunt is a vet, would it be ethical for her to prescribe baytril for Nancy and she could maybe call it in somewhere in my town? I am not close with her at all so it would be something that would be difficult to ask.... But might be worth it.
