i have some i bought at TCS a while ago..it says for dogs and horses. not for use in cats...but it says nothing about birds though. so i wasnt sure if i could use it. its not an actual antibiotic though...the ingredients are tea tree oil, linseed oil, crude fish oil, balsam of fir, fumed silica, propylene glycol. the name is MultiCare..wound powder. ever hear of it?

Thank you for posting the shots. Looks to be limited to the toe, he should be fine. You could add a teaspoon of Epsom Salt to the betadine for the soaks (at least fifteen minutes warm water). Dissolve the Epsom salt in the water before squirting in the betadine (otherwise will tend to clump up together).

If you can get the PenG, ask for a 1.5" 21 or 22 gauge needle with syringe (PenG is pretty `thick' and a larger bore needle will make things easier on you and your roo). Have one person hold him, place your thumb on his keel and use your fingers to push breast muscle up toward the keel (will define a nice fat target). Use your other hand to introduce the needle at a slight angle. You'll know you are in the muscle and not just under the skin (shouldn't have to more than an inch of needle in the bird). Use a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol to `clean' the general area that will include the injection site.

Be religious about the soaks and he should be serenading the sunrise for quite some time.

Good luck!
