We are new to raising chickens. We adopted 4 egg-laying hens (around 10-12 months old) about three weeks ago. One (pictured below) has had white discharge dripping from her vent since we got her. I soak her regularly and get her cleaned up, but this is how it looks by the end of the day. Today, we noticed her vent seemed to be protruding (prolapsed)? It was originally protruding more than it appears in the picture. We want to do whatever we can to help her. Please advise.

Thank you for the helpful information. I was thinking Vent Gleet as well. I’ve attached pics of the whole hen. She laid an egg (slightly bloody) this morning. Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

Isn't she pretty!
I would start treating for Vent Gleet.
Did the exposed tissue go back in? If it's still visible, then you want to keep it moist with an ointment.

I would also check her crop to see that it's empty in the morning before she eats/drink, often a crop issue can be a symptom along with vent gleet - a crop could be "sour" or "yeasty" and that is a contributor.
If she's young, the blood on the egg might be due to her being a new layer, but could be due to the Vent Gleet too.
Hopefully you can get it straightened out.

I will check her crop in the morning and start treating for vent gleet, thank you. I tried clicking on the link to order the antibiotic (Nystatin) online, but it didn’t work. Is that only available through a vet?

Yes, that link to the medicine on that other website is broken.
That one is prescription only.

You can order it online. The other link below will give you dosing info.
