Actually half of Belgium speaks French, and the the other half speaks Flemish (a dialect of Dutch). The French-Speakers in the the south are known as Walloons and the Flemish speakers in the North are known as Flemings.

So D'Uccle must be from Wallonia.

D'Uccle is not pronounced Dew-clay in any language.

Uccle is near Brussels. The D' is an abbreviation of De meaning of or from. the last syllable is not pronounced 'clay' because there is no accute accent on the letter E. In French it is pronounced like a short kind of oo & the other syllable cle.
Otherwise, in English, it is pronounced exactly as it appears.

Ok, now I'm really confused on d'Uccle... Oh well... I suppose which ever way I pronounce it, people are going to know what I mean. More often than not I just call my Mille Fleur d'Uccles "Millies". It's a lot easier.

I am still not clear on Marans. If someone could finalize that for me my life would be complete, lol. I think it is MARE-unz, but would like someone to confirm if possible. thanks I also think this is a great thread.

To me Marans is difficult to write phonetically if one wants the French because of the gutteral r & n. It is prononced as it looks not 'mare' & not with a 'z' sound. The s is not emphasised.
