Please help with sick peacock

Her feathers are really ruffle up looking so today im going to hold her a while and clean them up for her. Im going to get a spray bottle and spray the ends of her tail feathers. One thing I have learned from helping a friend back home with her sick pea is that peas dont like to get wet so when they do they automatically start grooming to get the water off. I keep it real warm in my house so im not worried about her being a little wet at the end of her tail feather. Ah who am I kidding I just like to hold her and im looking for an excuse lol.

im going to give her a Thanksgiving preasent today and add onto her hospital coop so she has more room to stretch her wings. we are making progress!!! Thank you Kathy and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Well....I finished the Tylan 50 @ .50 cc twice a day for 6 days but shes still sneezing but shes breathing with her beak closed so after about a week she will probly be gasping for air again. I dont think what she has is something the Tylan 50 can treat. Im kinda lost on what to do next if she does get bad again.

Hmmm, that's frustrating, I'm so sorry!

It sounds like you got improvement, but not complete recovery.

Were you still giving the Tylan orally? Looking back through the posts, I thought you were going to try increasing the dose? Did that help?

I can't remember, and didn't go all the way back through -- did you ever use Baytril with this bird? Corid? Safeguard? Maybe you could post a quick recap of what you've already done so somebody can help suggest what to try next?

She's definitely a lucky bird to have such a devoted pea-person

Yeah its been over a month now and shes just my little love problem child! Okay starting from the day I got her we noticed she wasnt feeling good and her brother was 100% she would have died if we wouldnt have got her. The people we got her from said they just need money ....they werent pea people to say the least. The third day I had her home she was gasping for air and I had never had a sick pea, it was recommended I start her on a antibiotic called Terra-vet and that didnt work, so I thought maybe Gapeworm so we treated with safeguard and no improvement then Tylan 50 @.25cc orally for 5 days and she started getting sick again so we went to Tylan 50 @ .50 twice a day for 6 days and shes still sneezing. Any ideas on what to do next?

How much Safeguard did you give her, and for how long? Also, did you say that you had given her Corid at one point? How much and for how long? Those are two completely different meds, one is for worms, the other is for coccidia.

I just looked up Terra-Vet, that turns out to be tetracycline. Has she ever had Baytril?
