I'm not sure if that's enough... @casportpony , can you tell us how much Safeguard would be an appropriate dose for this chick? Shay, have you weighed her lately? Good that you used it for 5 days!

How are her stools looking, and do you have the ability to have a vet do a fecal exam for worms and coccidia? A regular vet should be able to do that, doesn't need to be an avian vet...

The five day dose of Safeguard I would use is 0.05 ml per 100 grams.

@Garden Peas this is the chick that has the exact same symptoms as the chick that I had in my infirmary in the garage. I sent a video to Kathy so she could see the gasping and coughing. I had taken mine to a vet and she could find nothing in the way of infection, she looked through a scope down the esophagus and trachea and saw nothing. She gave a shot of steroids and an antibiotic that had no result. I tried Baytril for five days and it also did not do squat. I finally gave Tylan 200 IS and IM and after about ten days, perhaps longer, of that it finally was well enough to go back outside and is still doing fine.

I think that Shay needs to continue with the Tylan until the coughing stops altogether. Perhaps she needs to start giving injections, but that is her call.

I'm inclined to agree.

Here is the Safeguard dosing that @MinxFox put on her website based on numbers that I gave her.

0.5ml per 2.2 pounds for five days.
That works out to:
Peafowl Amount (1 ml = 1 cc)
Large Adult Male 3 ml
Small Adult Male 2 ml
Large Adult Female 2 ml
Small Adult Female 1.5 ml
Large 3 month old chick 1 ml
Medium 3 month old chick 0.8 ml
Small 3 month old chick 0.7 ml

The above numbers are based on the weights of my peafowl. Always best to weigh your chicks and do the math.

Im going to say this okay...im afraid to give her an injection! I have no idea where and how to do it and shes so tiny! If I could get some advise or maybe a video I could watch that would teach me how to do it I think I would have better results from all I have read about the injections, should I continue on the Tylan? I stoped yesterday and I was giving a total of 1.ml. orally per day.

Can you buy some Tylan 200 and use it instead of the 50? With the 200 you would use much less, which might be better. And can you get a scale so you can weigh her? @KsKingBee , did you do the shot in the muscle or under the skin? @Shay1Bear , I can take pictures of both ways and teach you.
