** Please help with sour crop or worms with sick hen***

Well, she was great this morning before I left for work. It was really hot here today so she was slow but, they all were. She would not eat in a large group, but would not eat alone either. I have a broody hen that I had to remove from the nest to feed as well so I put some layer crumble, oyster shell grit, and cracked corn in a bowl for them to share. She ate quite a bit of it then took off to find the rest. She is still drinking the electrolyte/vitamin water I have out. I have been wondering if she may have a sort of vit deficiency and that's why she didn't bounce back. Her head tics seem to be improving but definitely not gone. It is nice to see her mobile again.

What is your opinion (everyone's is welcome) of placing some fertilized eggs under my broody white leghorn? I just ordered 24 eggs of asst breeds and was thinking of placing 4 under her for her to hatch.

I prefer broody hatching because it's so much less work for me!

And because i never get tired of watching a broody mama teach and care for her brood. It's too too beautiful!

My fingers are still crossed, but honey seems to be doing well. She is eating and drinking and even putting some weight back on.
tonight was the 1st night she flew up to the highest perch to roost with her best buddies. I am very hopeful now. Her comb is still slightly faded and not as erect as it once was. I am continuing the electrolytes and vitamins in the water. Now I'm just waiting for my fertalized eggs to arrive from Gabbard Farm. I plan on placing 4 under my broody hen and the rest with go into the incubator.

Well, Honey was doing very well for a short time. She is eating grass and treats but will not eat her layer pellets at all. She has started to lay soft eggs again. Poor thing looks miserable and has gotten very skinny again. I have tried to feed her separately but, she just refuses and walks away. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

I am so sorry! I would consider keeping her off of layer pellets for a while. I'm not quite sure how they get hens to lay eggs, but maybe getting her back into shape would be the first thing to do. I can't remember, do you have a hutch or puppy pen or someplace she can stay by herself? And start giving her really good treats to get her eating again and gaining weight?
I know how frustrating this can be. I've almost given up on some pretty sick ones, only to have them come back stronger than before.
