I am not familiar with cranes.Are you sure this is not a normal thing for them?Can you check the other crane to see if they have this?Do you think it is attached?

The first time I saw the Choanal slit in my chickens mouth open like that, I swore she had a cleft palate ..Just had to check the other chickens too, they all had it, shows more when you pull the head back, otherwise, just don't really notice it.

I thought so too! Then I read about how they breathe through it.
Nostrils > choanal slit > glottis. If the choanal slit or glottis are obstructed, that will make it hard for a bird to breathe.

Ok so I made home call again. Here are a bunch of different pics. I also took some pictures of his poop. It is not normal for him. Very small and liquidy. I think the slight yellow tint is from the dura 10. It is super yellow. I also looked down my other cranes throat and it looks like a chickens.
