Popping in after reading this roller coaster thread.

Are we 100% sure that this thing isn’t a foreign body stuck up there, (almost looks like a piece of corn)
Then it got unstuck but was rattling around in the nasal/pharyngeal cavity for a day, then settled back into its original slot?

Have you tried un-wedging whatever it is?
Maybe with the long end of one of those plastic dental floss picks.
If it’s a canker, sometimes they can be dislodged.

If it’s not, you’ll either see it disappear again back up into the cavity or be able to flick it out.

This would be a multi person procedure.
I’d burrito wrap him and lie him on his side to attempt this and find something like a partial roll of tape that you can put in his mouth to hold it open for a minute while you work.
You need a headlamp or someone that can aim a flashlight BUT stay out of your way while you work.
Also cover his eyes with a soft dark cloth ( like a sock) to help calm him.

At least that would solve some of the mystery and help you decide for sure what direction to go in next.

Ok. We were deciding weather or not to restrain him. (You know he’s a crane right?) My dad fears he could have a heart attack. That’s why we have not tried to remove it.

I totally understand and respect that, and with any kind of bird that isn’t calm about being touched or handled, it’s a possibility.

But it’s after midnight on Sunday night, so technically Monday, and this thread started on Tuesday and you still have the original problem.

And the problem is still right at your fingertips.
It hasn’t fallen out, been swallowed or god forbid, slipped into his lung. Which is a very good thing.
(And why I said if you do a procedure to remove it, do it with him lying on his side).

Heres something you could try tomorrow. Baby steps.
Talk reassuringly. Soothing voice.
Practice restraining his wings.
Then wrapping him up.
Covering his eyes.
Give him rest between if he seems stressed.
Maybe someone could even hold him in their arms and just recline with him held firmly on their chest.
If he seems fairly calm with it... proceed.

I too am watching. Don't know anything about cranes, so it piqued my curiosity. I'm sure you are talking to it, and getting it used to you some. You were able to catch it, and open it's mouth for the pics, so proceeding calmly, and gently should not cause it to have a heart attack. It could easily be infection, but it could also be a piece of plastic, maybe a bead, or something small like that. Keep us posted, please.

It’s her pet. It stays in the house at night.
