Ours are not pets, but we have quite a few of them, and they are NOT shy.

I have to rethink the situation now, that appears to be something stuck in there, piece of corn, a bead? Idk, but that doesn't look like an infection. Besides it disappeared, now it's return, only it looks totally different than the previous pics.@casportpony @Texas Kiki

the yellow thing is back. Here is a picture after he started swallowing badly a few days ago. You can definitely see it was gone but here is a pic I just took. Should I start baytril since it’s back? View attachment 1635304View attachment 1635305

What a magnificent bird!He is still very energetic. He goes out for his usual flights and plays in the snow. I took these pictures of him this morning when I let him out. View attachment 1631274View attachment 1631275
Thankyou. You can see all of his pics on this thread. They are on all the pages. https://www.backyardchickens.com/posts/20812837What a magnificent bird!![]()
Yeah but the problem is restraining him. His is 4 1/2 feet tallI think I'd open the bird's mouth, and try using hemostats, or those long things that are used for removing fish hooks from fish.
I just had him call and stuck the phone by his mouth. I didn’t have to hold him at all. My best guess would be a wood chip or a piece of corn.I too am watching. Don't know anything about cranes, so it piqued my curiosity. I'm sure you are talking to it, and getting it used to you some. You were able to catch it, and open it's mouth for the pics, so proceeding calmly, and gently should not cause it to have a heart attack. It could easily be infection, but it could also be a piece of plastic, maybe a bead, or something small like that. Keep us posted, please.
Gotta get Dad...and Mom. All hands on deck!Yeah but the problem is restraining him. His is 4 1/2 feet tall
My dad thinks he could have a heart attack if we do that. He says as long as he acts normal and he is not loosing weight we should just keep an eye on him.Gotta get Dad...and Mom. All hands on deck!
ETA: A nice strap of Velcro might help. Wrap his wings in a towel then strap him. Justa thought
