The problem with not removing it is, that it could cause infection, or be dislodged, and cause further problems down the road.

Or worse, it could dislodge and relocate in the trachea.

Yikes! I hate when the dentist hygienist sucks the tissue under my tounge! Couldn’t image the tissue in the back of Phatom’s little throat. What to do ...I’m just praying it resolves itself somehow. Birds are remarkable.

you might be on to something.
If you duct tape a drinking straw to the crevice tool of a vac you would
a. Decrease the overall suction power
B. Focus the suction to a very small area.

I’ve done this to detail my car!

I don't think so. The noise would terrify him. It would be easier to use a tiny pair of needle nose pliers, hemostats, or one of the tools for unhooking fish. It would give you a good grasp, do it quickly, and not terrify him as much.

Oh geeze... tweezers, hemostats.....my mind flashed images of tweezers slipping from fingers and sliding down the throat! At least hemostats have finger holds. Good luck!

Oooh. A long alligator forceps would be awesome here!

*reminiscing about getting a phone call from the school nurse about a paper spitball that was lodged in kid #2’s ear, flat up against his eardrum.

She was an “old school” school nurse and lent me her ancient otoscope with the swing-away lense and the alligator forceps.
An hour later after about 25 attempts I that spitball was out of there!

The vacuum cleaner/straw idea is one of those things that bring to mind "we can, but should we?" No we should not. Sheesh.
