It would be easier to use a tiny pair of needle nose pliers, hemostats, or one of the tools for unhooking fish. It would give you a good grasp, do it quickly, and not terrify him as much.

The Parks & Wildlife have nets that are shot out over the wild cranes down on the coast every year to tag and inspect others that were already tagged....they don't lose any to that kind of handling....which is way more anxiety inducing treatment than you would be with Phantom.
