Please help

I don't think its too common but it is mostly known from if the incubator floor or brooder is too slippy or if they have too much space to flap around when first hatched.ours hatched overnight and he was the only one so i think this caused his.
It can be from genetics too or temperature fluctuations etc.
Really i think its just unfortunate and bad luck.
I gave b12 and extra vitamins just incase it was genetic.
We read a great article on it from here but i cant find it now, that was what made us think it was that and we followed the instructions exactly and luckily now hes fine.
Hmm I wonder if that's part of the reason why chickens lay on top of the chicks to stop them from moving too much after they've hatched... Haven't gotten an incubator still, the chicks we've had (except for one we helped hatch and were taking care of for some months) have all been hatched and been raised by their mothers.
Do feel very lucky that we haven't had this happen yet (knock on wood)

Oh thats a good point, possibly it is. We have never had a chicken go broody, we just bought some silkies so I am hoping they might at some point, incubators are stressful!
Good luck with your little ones, sorry about this little one.

Cool silkies are really beautiful. Nah the one we helped hatch grew up well, we were even lucky in that, now she follows me everywhere, and unlike the others loves to be held.
