What would be the benefits of keeping poults outside for about an hour every day?

ive been doing this and the crippled turkeys seem to be walking better on it

I am not sure that I understand the question Kody, maybe a little more information would help get you an answer...

What age poults? You mentioned crippled turkeys walking better on what? Why are they crippled? What is the temperature outside? Is there wet grass where they roam? Are there any predators that could be a problem?

I personally think that fresh air and room to move around wouldn't hurt anything unless the poults are very young or the ground is wet or cold. You don't want them to get chilled. If you have been doing this already and are seeing improvement in your poult's health then I would say keep up the good work!

they are in chicken wire and i watch them...no predation going on

11 days old

they are crippled because i got them that way i had no choice but to take them, although now they can walk just clumsily and one hops around on one foot

they are walking better on the...GRASS...usually what is outside

about 80 degrees but its hotter in concentrated sunlight

grass is dry

sunlight = better vitmain and trace mineral conversion.

Yes sunlight helps you turkeys, but you have to be caustious about wet ground, and there emune system is not devleoped until about 7 to 9 weeks.

It would be safer to add a viteman supplement to there water, and have lots of windows in there coop/pen.

If you cant' get more windows, try a grow light, or full spectrum light, like what is used for indoor plants.
