My 1 year old silkie hen is showing very strange behaviour. she was broody, but then all of sudden she stopped eating and she stayed inside all of the time. i checked her rear end to fine she had lice, so I bathed and treated all of my birds. but she still acted stange.
we separated her from the other chickens and bought her inside, giving her plenty of vitamins and made sure she ate and drank plenty. I have noticed that she is losing a lot of feathers (they are just falling away), and I wondered whether she may just be moulting - as some birds really lose character when moulting. she also seems to have a 'dodgy' aim; when eating and drinking, she missed the feeder - I have no idea what is wrong with her!
PLEASE help! I will do all that I can to help her, she has such a lovely character and is so friendly!
P.S she is believed to be a survivor of mareks disease - she had it for about three weeks, and recovered with a lot of attention from us - could it have come back?
