please help

ok baybay, I will give it a shot as I have read of alot of people on here worming sick chickens....she is still with us so far ..Thank God ! and I'm hoping she stays strong enough to fight whatever this is!!!! but whatever it is...if she is a carrier, what do I do then? Also, should I try a special feed or another antibiotic? right now she is eating medicated chick stater and scrambled eggs and occasional tomato...may give her watermelon today, trying to give her stuff with lots of liquid in them since she won't drink
 
about the quarantine.....Lessoned learned!!! 30 days from now on! me and my son didn't research diseases and was just overly excited to start a journey....as his Dad brought him only ONE egg from his neighbor to try and hatch...and HE DID! he hatched a beautiful barred rock whom is now almost two months old....and his Dad was supposed to have built a coop.....and....still not done! and in the meantime I bought a coop for them and was attached and in love at first peep!!!!! so he will just have to get his own chickens :) I have alot invested already and dream of the homesteader lifestyle :)

Do you have an avian vet nearby?

I know it seems counterproductive to worm a sick chicken, trust me. I was skeptical until recently. I had a really lethargic, poopy hen and although I had mite problems in the past (from not quarantining a new flock) this wasn't it. At the advice of some people on here I wormed her and she was acting better in two days. It could be a coincidence, but I'm paranoid now and won't take a chance. (i re-read that and I didn't mean for it to sound pushy)

Also, first I would find out what she could be a carrier of. Then I would worry about treating the rest of your flock.

I don't know the best way, but I usually type in what I'm looking for in the search engine. Then if I don't find a recent one with something close to mine I still click on it and go towards the bottom where it says start a new thread. There's the blue button that says post a reply and then one next to it that say start a new thread.
 
oh no BayBay peepers, I didn't take it as pushy and appreciate your advice greatly ;) I'm not sure if there is an avian vet in my area which I would love to have the help of but dont have that kind of $ as I have went bankrupt by getting their supplies and setup and meds....I know that's awful but I'm on my own now...with the help of ualls advice! Also, I understand greatly why you worm your sick chickens now and why your paranoid about it!

Especially if you just started setting things up. Sometime if it's available it's nice to have the "expert" diagnosis. There's nothing wrong (in my eyes) with trying to do everything you can. I hope she gets better quickly.

When you post in the Emergencies forum, pictures might help people figure out what your hen is dealing with, as you said exactly what she has is going to be important to figure out in case she has something that will make her an ongoing carrier...usually that means you have to have a closed flock / keep her separate from other birds if you don't want to cull them.
