Yes, I lost all 15 babies. They were in transit for two days. The hatchery told me that all their hens are vaccinated for everything so the chicks must have come in contact with something on the trip.

I think they probably got too cold. I ordered 16 from MPC last March. All but 1 was DOA. The lone survivor - Henrietta - is badly visually challenged, I think from cell death with being so cold. Doesn't slow her down any tho'! 2 days 'in the mail' is too long I think at this time of year.

I ordered 15 but mine wont come till June. I am a little nervous, I have never ordered from a hatchery before. I have heard this happen to people but it seems for the most part is not as common compared to the number of chickens they ship out (or at least we hear about). Sorry for your loss. If you try to order again I would like to know how it goes.

I bought from Meyer Hatchery....6 chicks...and they arrived on a 25ºF morning and all were except for 1 australorpe I thought might not make it...but she did. They were in a box with a warmer (like the hand warmers you can buy at the store). It provided them plenty of heat for their journey. That is the one thing I really liked about Meyer..and customer service was excellent when I called about the lethargic chick. We saved her!

Good to hear positive experiences - I had no trouble with a refund from MPC. I just felt guilty about the chicks being dead tho'..............
