Please place your General Location in your Profile :)

I posed this very question several months ago. And the same responses were given: Some thought it was a good idea, while there were a select few, like @Zinjifrah , who have very good reason to be vague. And Zinn's "general location" in her profile gives enough information to anyone who is trying to give climate specific advice while not being too specific. Then, there are the minors who are BYC members.

Like Farmer Connie, I get very frustrated. And I vow to not get sucked into the vague posts where folks are asking for help, but not giving any details. I'm apt to reply to such a thread with a simple statement: "More info needed" with a list of questions. I'll not reply again till questions are answered.

More and more, and so way too often, a question pops up that cannot be answered without knowing a "basic general location" of the O.P..
Mostly weather/geographical related.
I find myself repeating like a broken record by asking where about's are you?
So I've decided to not reply as much to their inquires because of the lack of information provided.
If with there was a way to make a general location mandatory (like the why did you join? box). At least something has to be typed into the box. If the member chooses to type the words nowhere (example), at the least we would know they wish to remain anonymous as possible.

I agree! Advice given to someone who has to deal with winter in Vermont will be a lot different than someone in Texas.

I feel your frustration, and I know many others do too, but I would rather not have to enter my location.
I was talking general location.. like State.. I'm in Fl. There is a million to one of a possibility to find my exact of my exact location.
If someone asks me if they can put their chicks outside at 2 weeks old, I can.. some of mine are 2 days old in my barn. I would hate to tell someone in Alaska to put their chicks outside on the second day..:gig

But I know where you are coming from. Not where you are at:lau I made a funny..:p

I feel your frustration
Not frustrated at all. Just that I like to type welcome more than... Where are you located roughly? Then wait for a reply 2 hours later.
Not the slightest bit frustrated or upset. Just trying to make it faster for communications to be completed.

Oh, okay. Well I feel frustrated when someone from let's say Europe or Australia doesn't say where they are from when looking for help with their sick bird.
