PLEASE READ........YOU COULD HELP SAVE A CHICKENS LIFE!!!!!!!

Her poo was very green with water, now that I have been feeding her it has gone white and watery. Her crop is flat because not much in there, she is only 7 months old....she is not molting.

I will start to weigh her, I don't know where to get the tube from? I am going to have a look today, I'm in the uk.

Thanks
Any vet should have the tube, just ask them for a size 18 french catheter and a catheter tip syringe. You could also use aquarium tubing or the water line for refrigerators. I her case the poop is probably from her being dehydrated and not eating. You much correct hydration before feeding!

Hi again,

Just a quick update, one morning she came out of the Cage and started to eat, I was so happy thought she was back to her normal self, next day she went down hill, I was just trying to give her as much water as I could!

Tbh I had given up hope, as I got a 2 yet old daughter at the min with Chest infection very ill, I haven't got much time on my hands. She is still in the house and yesterday was going to be her day to be culled but she is still here, I just randomly threw a grape on the floor for her and she eat it, I couldn't believe it because she won't touch the chick crumbs or layers pellets I been offering her, then I just have her some boiled rice which she ate quite a lot of, she also eat some grit. But she doesn't seem to want to drink???

What healthy food can I give her until she feels like eating the stuff she should be again??

She is still pooing watery white with green solid poo in.

This is her laying down, she is still walking about. Just very thin!

Any advise what I Should do now??

Also another question, her face keeps going from red to really pale??

Thanks

This is what her poo looks like today...

Here's the problem... Do you know why her crop was impacted? If there was just grain in the crop I doubt the problem was true crop impaction, but more likely a blockage further in. Many things like cancer, ascites and repro problems can put pressure on the intestines and cause the crop not to empty. If there was nothing but grass in the crop, it was probably a true crop impaction. Either way, she needs to be tubed fluids ASAP or she will die.

I know why her crop was impacted it was because there wAs a hay bale in the run, her and her sister both eat aload of it and they both had surgery, her sister is doing fabulous! I really am scared to do the tube feeding, I know you know your stuff and your probably right it's the only way to save her, but what would you suggest to do if I can't do that? I'm on my own with my 2 year old who is very ill at the moment and I can't give my poor chicken 100% attention, it's making me very stressed.

Do you know why her face is red one minutiae then very pale the next?

Thanks again Kathy!

Crops impacted with straw, that I can see, gizzard, too. As for your other options, I don't think there are any and I feel for you, 'cause sometimes it's just way too much to add onto a schedule.

Ok thanks. Would you say it is pointless me giving her as much water as I can and hoping one morning she will be fine? I just don't understand how her sister is right as rain and she's like this. She's still quite strong, just thin!?

Do you know why her face is white then red???

:-)

I suspect she has something else going on, like an infection. Pale comb usually mean anemia and/or blood loss. Nothing is pointless, do what you can.

My healthy cochin hen's comb always went pale when she was sleeping...to a point where it was the color of her yellow skin. But once she woke up it immediately turned red. When our leghorn was sick, her comb turned pale when she was lying alone, but turned red once she started moving around. Maybe their bodies stop blood flow in the face when they're idle? Hopefully your hen gets better
