PLEASE READ........YOU COULD HELP SAVE A CHICKENS LIFE!!!!!!!

My healthy cochin hen's comb always went pale when she was sleeping...to a point where it was the color of her yellow skin. But once she woke up it immediately turned red. When our leghorn was sick, her comb turned pale when she was lying alone, but turned red once she started moving around. Maybe their bodies stop blood flow in the face when they're idle? Hopefully your hen gets better

That sounds right actually, she goes red when she perks up!! Thanks that's great!!

I also agree with pwand and Kathy.

I have Leghorn chcikens so I think that means something...
I can see when they start to be ill by checking her combs on the earlier stage.
May be needs some nutrition, or need more fluids, or something worse if it is too late.

I recall one thing that my Leghorn chicken's comb is perky when she takes a bath. after that, the comb's color turns to normal gradually.

I suspect she has something else going on, like an infection. Pale comb usually mean anemia and/or blood loss. Nothing is pointless, do what you can.

I'm going to try the tube feeding tomorrow if I can get hold of what I need. I have started her on tylan 50 today, don't know how much of it she needs to drink in a day for it to be affective, I was advised to put one scoop in 1/2 litre of water, but that's a lot of water, do you know how much water a chicken drinks on average in a day?

Thanks
