    Hello, Which chick feed should I use. Medicated or Non-Medicated Chick Feed?
    Maybe this Information About My chicks might help you Answer my question.
    Age: 15 Days Old
    Breed: Rhode Island Red
    Gender: Female
    I bought these chicks from R&D Cross.

    I feed medicated to avoid cocidosis (sp?) But Im not raising organic though. Not sure if you are. My chicks are 13 days old

    I would use medicated until 8 weeks and then switch to either non-medicated or layer/grower.

    Non medicated starter/grower 20% protein. I provide it fermented and dry, for the life of my chickens and never change to layer. I have oyster shell in a separate container for my laying hens.

    I used non-medicated because I was raising mine on organic feed. I did end up having to treat for cocci later on.
