i just did an online catalogue search for it and it turns out that three of the libraries in my area already got copies.

Ours had it! I called today to see and yeppers they have had it for about six months I guess someone asked for it this spring lol Good news though

I emailed our county libraries and this is what I got back today!!!!!

Carrie, We have checked and have 5 different books on chickens in our system so unless we have more interest in that book we will probably not purchase it at this time. Wright County Library Mtn. Grove Branch

I am going to email Fay, a BYC member who lives in our county, to see if she will email them, also.

The bookstores carry it because I got my copy at Borders in Eugene

You could also ask feed stores to carry it. That would probably sell many times more books. Who reaps the profit of this book?

The goal is to get them into the libraries and not to push sales.

Regarding profits... there actually isn't any "reaping" going on. Literally only pennies on each book sale go toward to the authors. We sell the books directly from the BYC store to help keep the site going, but even there, the proceeds are pretty slim.

The real reason to get the book into libraries is to make the resource available to as many people as possible to help promote the correct care of chickens. The reason to get the book out in circulation and in front of other chicken books is to get people to come visit BYC and join our community.

Well Rob, sorry but I had to vote nope.

Why? Well, my little town's library is too small and has a small budget.

So... I guess one of the two copies I just ordered from the BYC store will be donated to the Beacon Falls Town Library.

I will sit in the barn and read my second copy to my chickens each night before I put them to bed. I think they will enjoy it.


Now what am I going to do with that free 6 month GFM???
