The tail is a rooster tail. Hens dont have flowing long feathers
 
For your BR it's a male, the easiest way to confirm is the tail, notice how his tail feathers are pointed. The second way to tell is the color, males will be pre-dominantly white and seem to be white with black barres, while females seem to be black with white barres, pre-dominantly black.
 
The bird with the hooked beak is a hen but she looks older then 4 months I don't think it will go if it isn't clipped, not quite sure what causes it, it will probably keep regrowing like that, if she can eat fine I'd leave it be.
