Please, show me your ducks

Pics
Hello.

I am making this thread to beg you for pictures of your ducks, whoever you are, and whatever your ducks are...!

Indeed : even though we can find all kind of pictures on the Internet... I feel pictures of ducks are actually much too rare.
Fact is, when I am searching for some ducks - breeds or colours -, I don't always find what I am searching for, whatever language I am searching with...

For example, I have a Light Dusky RUNNER DUCK, but I could not find any information (picture) to actually know about Light Dusky colour until I found it : https://www.duskyfeatherswaterfowl.com/dusky-pattern
...Trust me : before finding this link, I did not even know how to call the colour of my duck, given I could not find any picture when I first tried to find similar coloured ducks on the Internet... (I even thought then I could get Brown ducklings with my Light Dusky duck, because I didn't know any better...!! In fact, last year, I believed my Light Dusky ducklings were brown...!!)

Even now, there are duck colours I would like to find, but just can't (or can't enough) : Splash, Brown, Blue Pied, Lilac, etc...
(I am particularly hungry for pictures of solid coloured ducks with white feathers on the wings...!!)

(I will admit I can't even tell the difference(s) between Silver and Lavender : until recently, I actually thought they were the same colour, but labelled differently depending on the country...!
WHY does the Internet not have MORE pictures...?!!)

I am especially interested in Splash colours, because the only picture of a Splash Duck I finally could find shows a Splash DUTCH HOOKBILL drake, but to me, he does not look like what I imagined a Splash duck to be...?

Thus, if some of you have pictures... please enlighten me and show them; and think to precise what breed, colour (standard or not), and gender they are.
(Hybrids are welcome, even MORE than welcome... but if you can, do tell what the parents are, please!)

Also : I fell in love with aged (whitening) solid coloured ducks... so, if you have pictures of them - before (younger) and after (older) -, I would really, REALLY like to see them.

(...Do show how much you are proud of your ducks.)
Thank you!

I can 100% relate!!😊 I recently attempted to scour all corners of the ducky internet in order to learn about every kind of duck in existence. But the more breeds of duckies I learn about, the more new breeds my research uncovers. It appears that there is an infinite number of breeds/colors/ variations. How delightful ❤️

Btw, here's some pics of my duck kids (I have to record videos of them and then screenshot to get pictures because they don't sit still)😊

These are my 5 ducks an in a few pics my dog joy and my chickens. I have magpie pair, the drake will never mate with the Pekin hens just his hen. He is very gentle and sweet. Next id my other drake, a khaki Campbell. He is more skittish and more rambunctious. He only mates with my two hens (Pekin). The two drakes live together in the smaller run by themselves and the duck hens live on the big run with chickens. Also my two Pekin hens who lay every day. They are the breed I would get over and over again. Very sweet and great little kid birds. The my magpie. Very sassy funny little bird. Five pounds but acts like she’s 100 pounds and rules the world.
How beautiful.. aww your magpie reminds me of my Dorothy!!😊 Have you ever experienced issues with your pekins becoming eggbound? My sweet beautiful Pekin Sugar had that problem a lot. We would always fix it but it hurt seeing her suffer 😔😔. I want more pekin but I'm worried it could be a common issue, that happened with my pekin only, not the others

Okay I’ve thought about it and I’m still not understanding 🤣 what exactly is it about the feet and bill? I’m realizing now after referring back to the original photo that my black swedish also has black bill and black feet (whereas my blue swedish don’t). So now I’m confused again 😂😂😂 I need a big chart to hang on my wall of breed characteristics hahaha
How pretty!! My black swedish has very similar coloring to yours. Reminds me of a tuxedo so we call him our James Bond duck. I've only seen maybe 1 or 2 other ducks like this, I think they may be mixed with cayuga but would love to know for sure.

Here's our 4!

1 cayuga drake
2 Golden 300 (maybe, not 100% on breed) hens
1 either golden 300 drake or a poorly bred black swedish drake
All are about 11 weeks

Yes I know ratios are off, trying to decide if I order 4 more hens and go through brooding again or try to find some that are about 1 yr....also need to convince the hubby 😬😬😅

Hi!

My ducks the white ones are Pekins, the other ones Swedish Blue.

Thank you for the picture.

Pekin are cute, but Blue Swedish are really beautiful ducks.

Pekins, Khaki Campbells, and Rouen ❤️🦆

Wow... thank you so much for all your pictures...!!

I thought Rouen were actually bigger...?

The Khaki Campbell on the first picutre is a boy, right?

I have one that looks exactly like this one, and I first thought he was a girl (he quacked sometimes until not long ago), but he actually is a boy... (No doubt about it anymore.)

He is my very first Khaki Campbell, so sexing him by his juveniles colours was not easy at first... but now, thanks to the internet, I know what to look for.

Yes!! Exactly!!

And colours are different depending on the country...

For example : in France, our Fawn and White Indian Runners are white and brown, with a black head and a black rump on the drake...
I think you call this colour Emory Penciled...?

But... so, when I first searched for Fawn and White Runners in English, I was surprised to find much lighter coloured Fawn and White Runners...!
(Which is the American Fawn and White...!)

Here is my Fawn and White drakelet - Patch :

DSC01711.JPG

He is still wearing his juvenile plumage, but you can see his black head... right?

(In my humble opinion, this is the most beautiful phase of the Fawn and White colour...!)

Btw, here's some pics of my duck kids

They are cute...!

Do you clean their pool (pools?) everyday?

(I have to record videos of them and then screenshot to get pictures because they don't sit still)😊

Are they not tame?

If they grow up together, it could work.

You would need to separate the drakes from the hens next late spring/early summer at least... but if not possible, until then, you still have the time to find other hens.

(Because of a mistake from a seller, I started with two drakes and two hens... and apart from a part of mating season, it worked splendidly.)

also need to convince the hubby 😬😬😅

Go with a duck, and show him his/her eyes...!

I would have to agree, I love the black head on your Runner, a very distinguished marking! Adds to their cuteness!

thank you for this tip, that is good to know and to keep in mind! 😊

I have convinced him now!

Because after much debate, searching the internet and asking the opinion of some others on here, the 2 I thought were hens....are actually drakes 😅 so I have 4 adorable free loaders.

After much discussion with our 2 kids, we have decided to keep the cayuga and the black swedish looking drake. Those are the ones they picked from the bin 😏 and I will order 6 hens from a hatchery. We will most likely hold onto the 2 brown ones for now and then try and re home in the spring.
