Please, show me your ducks

Pics
I don't have great pictures of him as a duckling, but he was very mallard looking.
And his juvenile feathers were like so. Very malardy in my opinion. I was sure he is a she, and than one day I look at him and his head is turning green.
And you're right, he had a dark bill, I totaly didn't realize how his bill changed color. And his feet were dark and now they're orange. I didn't notice any of it. That is wild !
Wow, he seems to have Golden 300-like coloration as a baby..

@cheezenkwackers Any idea what color this Runner boy is? There’s more photos in previous messages.

I am just guessing but the baby picture looks restricted like an Appleyard (but without the other genes like light). I wonder if he is split for dusky. I know dusky is supposed to be recessive but it sure seems like just one allele might reduce the neck ring and the rust chest. 🤷‍♀️

Tell me if I am mistaken, but his hatch mates are a Snowy drake, and a... Apricot one?

In any case, regarding your Mallard coloured Runner...
...I was curious, so I have searched on the Internet; and here is a picture of one looking (almost) like yours : https://greenlandsfarm.org/poultry-game-birds/indian-runner-gray-mallard-12-eggs
Yeah, that's kinda like him ❤️

Well, I would guess Harold is apricot based on his juvenile plumage, very "gelbblau" as the germans call them. But in the link you gave me in another thread, they call his colour Dusky/Harlequin phase with blue, accept as a duckling he was just yellow. Is dusky/harlequin phase with blue the same as apricot ?

And Hubert was Harlequin/Mallard looking first, and now I don't know if he would be considered Trout or Silver/Snowy or is that the same again ? His duckling colour was yellow with a tiny bit of black on the tail, so I guess Silver is right.

Hi!

I don't have great pictures of him as a duckling, but he was very mallard looking.

No : after looking at this picture, he was not really a Mallard coloured duckling.
He should have been partly yellow - very yellow - if he was, but he is more light brown instead...?

I really would not have thought this duckling to grow Mallard coloured juvenile feathers!!

Hmmm... I am so curious...!!

And you're right, he had a dark bill, I totaly didn't realize how his bill changed color.

In my humble opinion : even for a juvenile, his bill was kind of dark.

I currently have a 1-and-a-half-months Mallard coloured Haut-Volant duckling, and look how his bill is (already so) light compared with your boy's one :

In fact, I even feel your Runner's juvenile feathers are a bit darker than my duckling's...?

Moje polskie kaczki

Oh my God they are so cute...!!

Thank you for the pictures!

...Could you tell us what breed are the Brown Pied (Emory Penciled) ducks? They are really beautiful!
(Or are they mixed?)

Sorry... maybe a confusion on my part...

When I say Apricot, I mean Apricot Trout... so : Harold is Saxony coloured in my opinion.

(He is not Dusky, because if he was, he would not have the strips on his face - even in his juvenile plumage!)

And Hubert was Harlequin/Mallard looking first, and now I don't know if he would be considered Trout or Silver/Snowy or is that the same again ? His duckling colour was yellow with a tiny bit of black on the tail, so I guess Silver is right.

Harlequin is Snowy.
...But then again : it would actually depend on the country/language?

Some people call Snowy "Silver", but others call the colour Splash "Silver".
So... what is Silver?

Same for the Snowy colour : the Harlequin phase of the Mallard pattern is usually called Snowy, but there are people who consider that "Snowy" is the Harlequin phase, but with gray wing speculum instead of blue...

In any case : to me, Hubert currently looks like an ordinary Harlequin coloured Indian Runner juvenile drake. Yes...

(Beautiful boy!!)

Hi.

mainly call ducks (they are my fav breed dont tell the others!)

Ah, ah!

This is Buttercup and Puddle as babys they are black bibbed call drakes they are a year old now

Are they Black drakes?
I mean... they are mostly brown, right? So... are they actually not Chocolate Call drakes?

In any case, Buttercup and Puddle are really beautiful!!

(Is is "Bibbed + Colour", or "Colour + Bibbed"?!)

(i have no idea what colour roady is if anyone knows i would love to know)

You can compare your boy with these pictures :
• Dusky pattern : https://www.duskyfeatherswaterfowl.com/dusky-pattern
• Mallard pattern :
https://www.duskyfeatherswaterfowl.com/mallard-pattern

What colour is his wing speculum? Blue? Grayish...? ...Brownish...?

And his head... does it look like it will very green?

And what about his rump?

Could you, in fact, post other pictures of him?
Also pictures of him in his juvenile plumage?
...It would really helps!

this years hatch of call ducks (the first batch)

They are really cute, but their home is just perfect - ah, ah, ah!

lu lu did not make it sadly.

I'm sorry for you...

dot (girl) dark one in the front right blue pied

Colours on Call ducks seem to be... different than they are on bigger ducks...?

hiccup (boy) magpie??
spot (boy). i think he is a magpie or a blue pied i am not sure (any ideas?)

They look like they are Emory Penciled mixed.

...Pictures of them in their juvenile plumage would be appreciated!!

i think he looks most like a Dusky Pattern/Light-Harlequin Phase with Blue and Brown
his head is brown but when the light catches it his head has a green/blue sheen
his rump is dark brown
here are some luvenile pictures (he is in the front)
