Please stay home when sick

If you're lucky, you croak from it and you won't have to worry about being sick ever again.

Welllll????? It's the human condition - being sick, infecting each other, passing bacteria and viruses all our lives. If we get all uptight about it, what's the point of being here?

When I worked for a cleaning company my partner started getting really sick, puking and the runs in the client's toilets while I did the rest of the house. (Thankfully the people weren't there.) She was sooo sick, and had a hot fever too. I called the office and told them that she was really sick and that I thought I should drive her home. They didn't care at all, and told her, "sorry, we can't get anyone to fill in for you," which was just an excuse of course, they had to cancel on clients lots of times for various reasons and it was never a big deal.

Although she cleaned the toilets really well after each time, imagine what the client would think if they knew that she was sick with a virus in their house, using their toilets?! Plus I had to work with her all day and could have caught it. At each house we went to she had to puke and poo in their toilets.

While I was working for that company I had a respiratory illness for about two months because I couldn't call in sick. Meanwhile we're in people's houses spreading our sick germs all over the place. Not a good idea if you ask me. For those of you who get housecleaning services, think about that one.
At one lady's apartment, I was training a new girl on her first day. Right in the middle of talking to the lady about what she wanted done, I got into this coughing fit so bad that I couldn't stop for about a full 15 minutes. I had to leave and stand out in the hallway, coughing my guts out and all this dark yellow stuff. It just wouldn't stop. I was humiliated. I'm surprised the lady didn't ask us to leave. And the new girl I was training quit the very next day. I think I traumatized her. Its a nasty story, and quite frankly I'm a little bit traumatized about it myself!

YES...STAY HOME WHEN YOUR SICK!!!!!!

I was an ER nurse.

Cant count the times people come to the hospital and flock in four and five at a time to visit ER folks, then go room to room trying to see who they can see....bring their kids and let them run wild....then have the kids back as patients swearing they have no clue why they are sick.

Grrr.......

One of our local hospitals (the one I'll deliver at) has a new policy during this flu season that no one under 18 is allowed to visit anyone in the hospital. I think that is a good idea!

I think it's a terrible idea really. If your mom is sick and you can't go see her because you're only 15??? what??

Now I could understand banning all kids under, say 12, since they probably aren't mature-enough to deal with a sick parent anyway.

Nearly 30 yrs ago my dad was in the hospital and none of us kids could visit since we were underage. So it's not necessarily a new thing. Couldn't visit my mom when my brother was born either.

I'm surprised that there are so many employers who want their employees to come in and make their clients and co-workers sick. It's better to have one or two stay home than a few in the hospital. I say if your boss wants you to come to work sick he also wants you to lick his phone, door knob and sneeze on his doughnut.

It's awful but a lot of employers make such a fuss over people taking off sick that people feel like they have to go to work sick or lose their jobs just like 92caddy.
