I have never once, in 7 years of researching, heard of a way tell gender by pelvis. You can use the spacing of the pelvic bones in mature hens to tell if they are laying or not. That "test" your landlord preformed sounds like an old wives tail to me.
Scientifically, I'm just telling you that all the traits that this bird displays all point to male.
