Plexiglass windows for winter coop

Could you post a photo of that panel in place? It sounds like a nice installation.

Sorry, not good with photos. It is pretty simple. Started with a clear plexiglass sheet from the hardware store. Used masking tape (an important trick to prevent damage/splitting) on both sides of the sheet when cutting it to size and drilling holes around the outer edge. It is easy to mount onto the same holes every year (4 winters now).

Edit: Be careful when mounting the plexiglass not to overtighten the screws. You can easily split the plexiglass. I have one small split that way, but fortunately it wasn't severe enough to ruin the window.

:)

IMO, people in variable climates should make more use of such removable panels to adjust their coops.

All my coop windows are cutouts covered with hardware cloth. I have plexiglass panels to cover each one in winter, held in place by little wooden swivel tabs (use your imagination). Lots of options to slide the plexiglass left or right to add some airflow but keep out blowing rain/cold. I'll be adding yet another 'window' this weekend for increased ventilation in this blast furnace we're stuck in right now.

If looking for "real" windows, try Habitat ReStore if you're lucky enough to have one in your area, or maybe CL, or Goodwill.
