We have finally gotten 6 chicks for the first time. We picked up from a local breeder, straight run.
They are 4-ish weeks old at this point. She had Barred Rock and RIR males. Barred Rock, Buff Orp and RIR females. These three barred chicks are my constant question......two pics of each. Roo or pullet?
#1 and 2 feathered early with early tail feathering but #2 is HUGE compared to all the other chicks and they both seem light in color? Mostly yellow sturdy legs on all three with very mild gray wash.
#3 is smaller with shorter tail and less feathering but also could be some number of days younger 🤔
Help, I'm hoping they aren't all destined for freezer camp 😬

That's a lot of white for a female barring. Properly bred barred Plymouth rocks, are odd to be sold straight run because it should be obvious at hatch what the gender is.
I think they're just randomly bred with the roos and hens so she didn't want to make any guarantees. I imagine a lot of hers are already crossed too.
I knew they probably weren't "hatchery" pure but now the mystery of it is driving me crazy 😂🤪
