No, no way. Scott knows. Those are in no way Columbian Rocks. They're terrible examples of them, to say the least.

Especially the female to the left.....

Walt

She was moslty the reason that I ask, I thought maybe is was just the lighting.

Thanks, for the answers.

Just wanted to get an educated opinion on one of my barred rock pullets. These are july babies, so about 23 weeks old, and pretty uniform in conformation. Not sure if I want to pursue breeding them or not.

My opinion is not a very educated one, but I will give it to you anyway.

Weather or not you breed them depends on your goals. If they are good layers and have nice attitudes and that is what you are looking for, by all means, breed them. If you are looking for a bird that is the type to show, yours seem to be closer to hatchery stock than they are to show type SOP birds. She looks to be a well cared for, healthy pullet, congradulations on a job well done! Look through past posts and you will see the difference in types. Everyone has to decide for themselves what type of bird they want to raise. ......stan

I say that I have a white Plymouth Rock anmed Gertie but I'm not completely sure. I got Gertie from my neighbor who knows nothing about chickens. Gertie was my neighbor's daughter's 4-H project. Can anyone confirm that she's a PR? I don't even know how old she is (Gertie, not the neighbor). The 5-year old who lives next door told me she's "half a year old" - that was last month when they gave her to me. So I guess that means she's about 6 months old - if you can go on the word of a 5-year old...
