All of the pullets from this breeding are laced, and all of the cockerels are barred. Never seen a laced cockerel like you would find in Partridge. They do seen to get better lacing when they come from a crisply barred bird like the GSBRs. Scott, do you still have the Stukel birds? If so, how is the leg color on them?? ...stan
Stan

I have 1 Stukel pullet left. Leg color has FINALLY improved, but it is not "bright" yellow like I have in my Columbian Rocks, and in my opinion she is a bit small. Hawks killed me thru the Spring and Summer with free ranging birds.

As far as getting "non barred" males goes, You need to use a non-barred male in your breeding somewhere. Do you have a solid black male? No solid blue males?

I am developing a line of "Black rocks" that are a result of Columbian males over Wheeler line barred females. I have 1 nice "black" hen that I will be breeding back to a Columbian male this season. I should get an approx 50/50 split of Columbians (male and female) and solid blacks (male and female)....will probably have an extra solid black male sooner or later, so if you're up this way come Spring/Summer lemme know. I think a good black male over your blue females and you should begin to get the workings of some exceptional blue rocks. The lacing on your females is very nice.....next step will be to "even out" the color of your blue (very tricky from what I hear). Once you get a good line of blues going, I'd stop using the barreds in the mating and use only the solids

Hope all is well...

Does anybody know what breed my chook is? I'm thinking Plymouth Rock x Australorp? I know the woman I bought her from has both of those breeds.

And also not sure about the age, maybe around 16-18 weeks?

We bred our plymouth rock with a black sex-linked and thats what we got.
Hope I've been some help
