Does anyone no the genetics behind a white rock
If you check out BYC member Robert Blosl's profile, click on his website link. There is a blog on the website that gets down to the nitty gritty with regard to the genetics of the White Rock. I don't have any genetics smarts but the Delaware was created by a Barred Rock cock over New Hampshire hens, so I'm guessing some significant differences genetically. Hope the link is helpful.so similar to the delaware? Also is I were to program them into a gen calculator what would I use
Funny I had just read about the white plymouth rock/leghorn cross when looking for a web address for my last post. Try this out:http://books.google.com/books?id=xv...ge&q=genetics of white plymouth rocks&f=falseI have a question for you experienced breeders. I hatched a few chicks out of my neighbors "white" plymouth rock hen and white leghorn male. All of her birds came from me and every white leghorn hatched pure white and so did their offspring. The Plymouth rock appears to be pure white but her chicks are not. Most of her chicks had some black on them and possibly some ghost baring. One did have brown on it's chest. Is it possible that the hen was hiding other colors or did the leghorn Plymouth cross just create some weird color?
