Good luck DM. I just finished a batch of shipped turkey eggs and ended up with 15 poults off 2 dozen and feel that was really good.
I also tested my first BR egg from birds I got last year From Jeremy. It was fertile but quit somewhere along the way. I think they may be too small yet(eggs).

This is my sweetheart...

I have two other BRs (Eeney and Meeney)...Roxanne's the brown EE with them checking out the top of their tractor.

But - Mo's my sweetie.

Last night, my husband came through the door and told me to drop what I was doing and get over to him. I huffed and went out to see what he wanted....My Mo had hurt herself.
hit.gif
She had, apparently, been playing on one of our Adirondack chairs and gotten her foot caught between the slats in the back. She was just hanging there upside down quietly squawking.

He picked her up and brought her in. The leg was swollen and hot and scrapped up a bit. I moved it around and everything felt fine, just a bit banged up. She couldn't stand on it at first and I figured it was like when you sleep on your arm all night long and it just flops around for a bit the next morning (please, tell me someone else has done that
hide.gif
). So, I cleaned it up, massaged it a bit and flexed her foot. Then put her in a box of hay in the ½ bath for the night.

This morning, she's up and standing on her leg
fl.gif
. She won't be running any chicken races, today, I don't think; but, she seems to be fine.

I am thinking of keeping her in the house until that leg isn't so abraded, though. I'm not sure that the other girls would pick on her...but...Well, you know how it is.

They wouldn't win any awards at a showing; but, they are my girls, and sweet as can be. They are my favourites out of all laying birds, so far...

Hope your girl's leg heals fast...Barred Rocks are popular for many reasons...great all around birds!

This chick is a bantam BR from SQ stock...and will be 3 weeks old on Friday.

Any idea what gender it is? Or is it still a bit early? It is reeeeeally slowly growing feathers as you can see.
