You having that problem too I see. I will have to make a dustbox because of that activitiy. Our house pad is too narrow in the back to allow that for long. Right now they are using the needles under the cedar trees too. That has been for the past coule of days. Better but still not good as that in a bank area where the trees are at on the fence line. I wish they would go back to the pit near the coop that was fine. Oh well.
my barred rock he is my faverite roo cuz he is huge but at the bottom of pecking order so very calm he is 2feet tall and about 12pounds i think this is huge for a chicken but all ive ever kept are rirs and stuff when i was a kid
Plymouth Rocks Rock. They can take any weather can just keep laying. We had snow here on the same day we had rain. Chickens were locked up in coop before snow hit that night. So were let out in 3" of snow in the morning. Did not fase them at all. I will have picturs soon om their blog. This was there second snow and more off it than first. I still got 12 eggs which is my max so far for this year. My were even ranging in snow some but not too far from coop. I have had no frostbite this year at all and coop is not insulated or heated. Nights down in the teens, days not oveer 35. this is the first time I have worked with this breed they are a main stay forever now.
Rocks will always be the foundation of my flock, no matter how many other breeds I may try, I will always keep Rocks. One day in the future, it may be nothing except Rocks here. I adore the Delawares, however, I'm not that keen generally on white chickens.
