Plymouth Rock thread!

Here is a pair of barred rock bantams i had. I sold them last year. Now I'm regretting that choice should of kept them. Does anyone know what quality these are.

Hi. Aren't BR legs suppose to be yellow? Maude

started out kinda pinkish yellow with black, now turned completely dark.... Is that bc she is mixed with something? Or just hatchery quality ? She came from Cackle.... Also shes suppose to be a she, but I'm not completely sure...

Understand that hatchery sourced birds are never going to be all that true to the Standard for the breed, it is too soon to judge your chick. The yellow legs come much later on in the maturity process.

I didn't know their leg color developed later.. I kinda thought that hatchery chickens might not follow standard... Thank you

I am so excited...I have a trio of horstman SPR's separated out and am collecting eggs. and they are fertile!!!! going to make some babies!!!!! woot!!!!

the male is so thrilled I finally gave him some girls of his very own.

I am thrilled with the color of the eggs...very pale and fine for Pysanky. Do all rocks lay the really light tinted eggs?

Most of my rock eggs are very light. Once in a while, I'll get one that lays a few shades darker, but that is the exception for me. Never had one with an egg as dark as a Red, or sex link .

Well I had to seperate one of my SPPR hens she got attacked by something the other night and it tore up her back, I am wondering if it was another possum. We usually have out Great Pyrenees in the field behind there coop but the kids left him in the front yard on a lead(he is still in training and likes to play with the chickens a little to much) and that was the night we had the problem. The neighbor has an old half broken down garage that is next to my fence that possums love to live in and Hercules keeps running over there and barking. Anyways I don't think she will anke it so that will leave me a trio. Dang predators.

Thanks! so sorry about your predator issues. and I used to think these monsters were so cute and fluffy...before I had chickens.
