I don't have a shot of mine at a day old, but here's one at 1 week showing the headspot and body color. (not to mention the wing color now) This is a cockeral. Gray coloring in the body, messy headspot, and now that wing feathers are in - more white showing than black.

No I was just curious thank you Happy Chooks for your help I was just asking cuz the females head spot is odd shaped and the male has like 3 but his very center on in uniform....I've never owned a Barred Rock before

Thank you for that information on making sure they are female! Sadly if we do end up with any roosters they will have to be rehomed, since our HOA only oks them as long as they don't bother the neighbors..*fingers crossed* Here's hoping it doesn't come to that!

These are the 2 pullets I have to work with. The one in the back I hatched from Jamie Duckworth. The one in front I got from Scott (Yard Full O' Rocks).

These are the Heritage BRs I got from Jeremy Woeppel. I won't cross these Rocks with others, to keep their line pure.

I'm hoping they are all female *fingers crossed*. If there's any roosters we'll have to get rid of them thanks to the HOA but hopefully it won't come to that. There's 4 little babies and they are my first chicks ever! I tried to pick out the darkest chicks of the bunch with pretty solid white circles on their head. They all have dark splashes on their feet too. There's only one chick that I'm a little worried about because his comb/beak looks a little bigger than the others..not sure if that can even be a sign this early.
