Plymouth Rock thread!

Pics
My Partridge Rocks are laying pretty good 5/6 or 6/6 everyday and the size is getting bigger. I can finally tell on my first Silver Penciled it's a HE I will try for some more pictures to me he's very nice blocky and heavy the other one I think is a pullet and of the ones I just hatched from Wynette I can't tell the sexes yet they are just cute they are turkey mates to my bourbons

Wow, they are really changing now! They are beautiful. I love the coloring in the roosters saddle feathers, very regal looking. Love the dirt nap photo.

You KNOW you want some!!!! Plymouth Rocks are like potato chips...."you can't have just one"

In all seriousness, this has been a really fun variety to work with. They are some of the most friendly, inquisitive birds I have owned. Even the cockerels are SUPER friendly. I am looking forward to continuing to breed these guys.

Hopefully we can get some BYC'ers interested as there are less than a dozen people in the US breeding this color variety

I've got a question on my Silver Pencileds.

Someone recently told me that to strengthen the penciling in the hens' breast, to choose a cockerel with some white in his breast. Supposedly, that helps the breast penciling of the hens to be more solidly penciled rather than leaking white. I don't have a lot of pics from straight on of the hens, this is what I have, but I think you can understand what I mean:

Can anyone speak to this?

I have 4 chicks coming up from a different bloodline than these birds pictured above - to of which are cockerels. One has white leaking into his chest feathers, and ordinarily, I'll cull for that. The other is solid black. I'll get some pics of them soon, but what do you all think?
