Plymouth Rock thread!

A good lookin' pair Kathy. Do they mature faster than the Good Shepherd birds?? Seems like mine weren't that well feathered at 8 months. ..........stan
Stan, mine sure took their sweet time. The males don't even fill out all the way until they are close to a year old. Dru, the sister to Kathy's pair she posted, started laying just two weeks ago at 27 weeks, but she seems to still have weight to gain to grow into her frame. Her mother and aunts didn't lay as early as she has.

Does anybody know what breed my chook is? I'm thinking Plymouth Rock x Australorp? I know the woman I bought her from has both of those breeds.

And also not sure about the age, maybe around 16-18 weeks?

Just wanted to show the ENORMOUS GSBR roo.  He is with a Blue Rock, that has to go (she has barring and white ear lobes  they were hatching eggs I traded for)... she is a laying pullet.

That pen is about 2 feet tall and 4 x 4.  That is not a prospective thing, he is REALLY THAT BIG

Here they are in a smaller pen before I moved them today.

She is hiding under his tail LOL.  He is nice and wide too.

Just for size comparison this is a FULL GROWN Blue Copper Marans Roo.  Same size pen about the same distance from the camera.

Oh my GOD that is a beautiful rooster. :th
