so im thinking cockrel but am no expert, now 4 and half weeks and them feathers are looking male? Anyone more experienced got any opinions!? Also dont be alarm by the red its just his skin showing not a sore

I think he could be a cockerel but he could do with a good couple weeks more to mature.

Yes me also will deffo be updating as see so many threads without an update. But im sad I was hoping for a hen his been my number 1 from day 1 and we know one of the silkies is a male so deffo can't have two boys!!

I'm leaning boy, but my whole experience with Polish chicks is my one female that is a week older. Her head feathers came in much more neatly.

Yes im thinking so them random strands look a bit rockerish. Hoping because its a wet day shes having a bad hair day or something haha

Quick update now at almost 6 weeks and I'm now going more towards hen, what do we think?

can you post some close ups of the face and crest, and also neck and tail. It is very likely too early to see anything though.

I have a polish myself and pretty sure @ 18 weeks she is a girl. From what I have seen, the head feathers on girls are very rounded on the ends vs. boys being pointy and more 'shaggy'. My polish has a head full of rounded fluffy feathers. Can check the hackle feathers just above the tail, if they are sharply pointed, boy - rounded, girl.

I am no expert by any means, but that is what I have learned researching and trying to figure out if I had a hen or roo. Hope that helps!

So these pictures are from last week, don't want to go and wake then up now (mommy hen will kill me if I wake the babies haha) but I will take some pictures tomorrow to look at.

This one is very sweet and attached to mommy hen. We have a gold top which is a girl who is calm and two which we believe to be roos (silkie and a silkie pekin cross)

Looking pretty boyish right now but agree with other posters you need a few more weeks time to be sure.
