i had polish chickens and kept them in there own big cage gave them all they needed and they never would lay eggs for me idk why but they wouldnt so after a year i gave up
My one girl lays approx. 3 eggs a week, sometimes 4. They are small (but not as small as banty eggs) to medium, depending on the size of the hen. I prefer her eggs over my other bird's because her's are the best size proportion not to find any blood spots or meat spots in there.
She started laying at around 9 months old (Polish are late layers) and faithfully lays until the winter. In the winter, we might get 1 egg a week.
They very individually, I've heard. Also, I think Sand Hill Preservation had info on the different Polish breeds (of their strains, anyway) laying different amounts. I think.
The lady at the feed store suggested that I put Vicks on my little Polish Bantams head to discourage pecking it. What to you think...brillant or incredibly stupid idea?
Thanks,
Julie
