Polish Crested wont walk around outside

Use the search bar on the top of the page and put in gape worms.... you will see a lot of threads on the subject. I personally have not have good luck with getting rid of it from a hen.

Hens in shock or distress will sit with their mouths open and wings outstretched - this is their way of coping with overheating. Is she out in the open? If you just recently added her to the enclosure she'll be shocked and apprehensive - place her in a nesting box, it'll be darker and quieter in there and she'll also feel more secure from the 'pecking order'. Once she is settled down she will come out on her own time.

Yes if they sit there kind of panting it would sound like shock but if she is out stretching her neck looking like she is gasping for air it sounds more like a gape worm.

My boyfriend and I just did a cotton swab test to check, and it came out clean, no stringy red worms. Maybe a respiratory infection? Should I just treat for both to be sure?
