Polish eye injury - 3 weeks later no improvement..help?

One question, is it possible for you to get more of the medication if you needed it for your boy? I have no clue how it works for you in Belgium. As Casportpony pointed out, we have feed stores, like Tractor Supply, for one, we can walk into and buy the drugs we need. What do you do there?

yeah sadly we dont have that here. we can only get animal meds prescribed by a vet and it costs a small fortune just to be seen, so.....when a member of the family gets sick and needs meds.....i try and keep the ones not used 'on the side' for animal emergencies....the sae goes for the bigger animals (donkey, pigs etc) if they get sick and i need a vet i try and get a few extra meds 'prescribed' so i have some to hand...but i have nothing animal wise at the moment apart from denagard and stuff for lice/mites :(
1 and 2 cc syringes i have here :)

Lol, you sound like me but mine are kept for human emergencies. That's awful you can't get them without a Vet..

Have you tried finding tropical fish antibiotics?

Something i just got from a friend....are you able to get boric acid powder? If so, 1 qt. boiled water, add 1 tbls. boric acid powder, 1/8-1/4 tsp. baking soda. Use this as a wash and compress 2 x's daily.

2 tbls. vaseline add in 1-2 drops of betadine. Use on eye.

I know they sell those at fish stores cause breeders from belgium use them for the discus fish according to the discus forum. Give the bird some Amoxicilin and use an eye dropper.

If the spish can get the Amoxicillin 250, I think they can give 1/4 to 1/2 a tablet twice a day. The drug they have on hand has 875 mg of amoxicillin, which is way too much for a 1kg bird. No need to use an eye dropper/syringe with a 250mg pill that can be quartered. Make sense?
