My 6 yr old granddaughter wanted chickens, which means now Nana has chickens and I have spent 3 months learning to chicken. 🤣 Started with polish and expanded to ISA’s and RIR’s. I have learned its a slippery slope…

I have combed the forums tried to compare pictures with others who have posted. I’m just trying to get a guess from others for sanity sake. I have 4 polish, just around 12 weeks. I was told they hatched a few days before I got them so age is based on that guess.

The 4th I did not post a pic of. I am certain is female, she is non-bearded and also looks like a Bantam White Crested which makes comparisons easier from others who have posted theirs.

I have guessed that #1 and 2 are pullets.

#3 - I have been back-and-forth on because for the longest time but it just spoke Roo to me. I also am now seeing some red around the mouth for #3 which if I’m not mistaken these three are bearded? At least they look bearded to me so I haven’t been able know if they should have red now or not. At this point, I have no solid guess for this one.

Minus #3 having what appears to be a different feather-do (not as long and smaller size overall) and they supposed to be same age) the feathers I’m not seeing a whole lot of difference in shape. Even their poof on top. All there have the same poof. Only spikey, unkempt i see is when they get wet from misters or the wind like in #2 side profile pic.

I know I prob have to wait until they either start laying or crowing because Polish are close to impossible to sex at this age. But happy to entertain guesses while I wait. Any input is appreciated!

I would have to agree ^ I see all pullets at this point

Thank you both for your opinions, I super appreciate it.

For an update (in case others are trying to compare)- We are approaching 16 weeks. I def agree #1/#2 are pullets. The one still in question (#3) - that I am always on the fence about has some smol gobbly bits with some pink/light red showing, but the other 2 do not. Unsure what age the get their gobbly bits - gender specifically - to know if it means anything outside of roos get them earlier. No crowing but I have read that some can be late crowers. There isn’t a real behavior difference except #3 seems to talk more, however chicken personalities are diff.

The biggest (#1) started to isolate by herself and slept under the water station vs roost like the others, which scared me. Then I realized she cant see, her head feathers are ALOT more than the others and she had zero visual ability due to that. So I gave her clip above her eyes and she is like a whole new chicken. Think her vision impairment kept her afraid to move about. Idk what I am doing on a daily basis but fun figuring it out.

The other two remain the same visually only a little bigger. Though they al becoming more talkative and now enjoy trying to peck my toes when I am in their coop for chicken cuddles.

Here are the visual changes for #3.
