I have 12 standard polish hens. I get 6 to 12 medium size eggs a day from March until October. Mine do not lay all winter. I have found them to be easy birds to have around, and they are so funny to watch.
Awesome, I hope my girls are going to be that prolific.
At what age did your Polish start to lay? I've heard anywhere from 6 months to 9 months old. 6 months is October...am I going to have to wait till spring for eggs?
It's been a couple of years now--I wonder how the thread starter faired?
We just got 6 Polish crested this year ourselves, of which 5 remain, and I'm still waiting on the girls to start laying. We haven't had to separate them from the other chickens, though--everyone seems content to leave their crests alone, for which I'm glad. They make wonderful pet chickens for anyone who's wondering--not very bright but heaps of personality!
