I have 2 WCBP, 5 weeks old. I was sure the one with the poof was a girl and the one with less poof was male. But the one with the bigger poof has spur buds, and is getting those red hangy things. The one with the small poof (she's really ugly) acts like girl, has no spur buds. I guess they will keep me guessing.....

I thought this was a girl now I'm thinking boy

Now I am thinking girl

I think they're to young to tell. I have one that is about 9 weeks and although I think it is a girl...it is just now getting any little combs...so now I am not sure.

Both my pullet and cockeral chicks have spur bumps. The give away on mine at about 5 or 6 weeks is the comb (which is not desired) and the bright reddness that they get on the top of their beak on the cere if it is a male. That is the fleshy part right in front of the comb. This is my rooster as a young chick.

Sorry the photo is so big, but when I reduced it for the "my Page" it doesn't show the reddness well.

Vertandi, neither one has a red cere. They are 5 weeks old. It's hard to sex anything other and babies, and Cynthia's Suede's son! LOL

Thats what I was thinking also as my male didnt have a pretty top knot...and the girls did. The male will have a different poof than the girls. I call my male Wild man cause his poof is really wild and the girls looks sopretty...had to give them feather cuts the other day as the girls were having a hard time seeing.

I was also thinking that the poofier one was a female, and still might be. But the other one with the bad hair day acts like a pullet, has no cere. I guess I will have to wait till that one gets more hair feathers. I did have 3 JG's the same age, and one was weeks behind the others in developing a comb, tail, and feathering out. Maybe it's the same here. It certainly would be nice if they were both girls

Either gender of mine have the poofy round heads to start out with, then at about 10 weeks the males sprout long thin feathers right through the rounded head.

I hope they are both girls for you.
