Polish poultry parents, how do you tend their poofs?

My Polish looks like Big Bird from Sesame Street! She is a good layer, but tends to get lost because she can't see, and has spent at least five nights outside.

Polish get spooked easily, and aren't the brightest bulbs

Now I want a polish. Just so I can dye her "poof". I'm thinking a pretty pink. Or maybe some glitter. And a barrette. There's lots of possibilities. My silkie's poofs just aren't poofy enough to have fun with.

Now, now! I read an article about the highlands cattle in a recent issue of Grit magazine. I think they are gorgeous. They show up around my chicken coops, they can get a backside full of birdshot just like the angus.
