Thanks for the info. My daughter fell in love with the Polish's and we found "Steve". The person we bought him from said he was show quality but we know nothing about SQ chickens. We are trying to learn! Anyway she want's to show him in 4-H shows but is he even show quality? Next week we will be getting 2 very nice SQ Polish's but Steve is so calm she is thinking she wants to try showmanship with him. What do you think.. SQ?

If you're just doing a small time show like at a fair or something, he's excellent! I'm no long-time experienced person, really, but he's better than most Buff Laced I've seen.

I think his back, right where the tail and saddle meet, could have a better joined "sweep" like a nice concave hill upward, and his body in general plus wing carriage could settle down a little, but otherwise he's very nice. For one, that tail and crest are something to be proud of. Polish with 45 degrees or especially less are so hard to find, however it seems more common in Buff Laced, and well sized crests in bearded varieties, - hard to find, you've got yourself a nice man there!

He is a very sweet guy. You can hold him for a long time and he will just sit on your lap. This is my 4-H'er with him.

Steve is the only chicken my 4 year old will ask to hold. (Poor Steve!- lol)

I need some advice from you all on this thread. As posted earlier I have a 6 week old White Crested polish and she is one on one with me because I have no other small ones and she is too little to go into the run/coop. I have her out evry day with the flock but i have noticed she is skidish because her top poof blocks her view. Is it okay to cut it back at such a young age. I rather her start out not afraid of things and learn that behavior. Her is her picture. She is not afraid of anybody or the other chickens so I truely think is is because she can't see until the thing drops by her. Thanks in advance.

Hey! I have your grand-chicks! I got the two three-week olds. They are both frizzled. Not sure what the sexes are yet. Crappy pics...

Did you not take the smooth one or was it not there anymore?

Not sure if there was one at that time?? If so someone else beat me to it! I got the only two I saw but I think there may have been more to hatch out more recently. I went and picked mine up a couple weeks or so ago. I have some GL I can put them with but I had not intended to breed them. I had intended to get someone's culls and let them live out here but there really aren't many since there are so few yet. Now I am not sure what I should do. I just didn't want to deal with the whole hatching and problems stuff.
